Workcamp
The Workcamp Mission trip is a week-long opportunity for high-school age youth to serve others through home improvement projects, deepen their faith through worship and devotionals, and have a great time with other youth. Workcamp happens in late June. Contact Barb Whitney for more information.
Chicks with Sticks
A group of knitters and crocheters gather together to enjoy each other’s company and make items for others in need of comfort or support. Projects include hats, prayer shawls for the sick and homebound, baby items for The Haven Network, NICU preemie hats, baby blankets or items for the church bazaar. Chicks with Sticks meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 10 am-noon.
Northern Illinois Food Bank
A group volunteers at the Northern IL Food Bank once a month, usually on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, from 9-11 am. Volunteers fill shelves, sort, label and package food items to relieve hunger in our area.
Micropantry
Our Micro Pantry supplies staples and other food items for those in need. Located outside on the southeast corner of the church. Take what you need. If you need anything more call the pastoral cell phone 815-742-7503 to make an appointment.
Seasonal opportunities vary from year to year. Some examples include:
- “Back to School” Donut-holes and Coffee: Offering a morning treat to parents dropping off children at the adjacent Elementary School, along with a message of encouragement at the beginning of the school year.
- Trunk or Treat: Participating in the community Trunk or Treat, connecting with families in our community through treats and smiles.
- Operation Christmas Shoes: Partnering with the school district to buy a pair of new shoes and socks to the children whose families have identified new footwear as a need.
